One of my favorite things about releasing music is seeing how different people experience it.
Recently, I invited Aimê (@aaimezing) to check out my music video Neko Girl and share her thoughts on it, and I had such a fun time watching her reaction.
As an independent artist, Neko Girl is a very personal project. It isn’t just a song — it’s a world full of characters, symbolism, fashion, visual references, and the story of Kira Katdoll. Because of that, it’s always exciting when someone takes the time to explore everything beyond the surface.
What I really enjoyed about Aimê’s reaction was how attentive she was to the details. She talked about the visuals, the styling, the different Neko Girl characters, the editing, and even the deeper meaning behind the story and lore.
She also shared her own interpretations of Kira Katdoll’s journey, discussing themes like identity, self-acceptance, and the feeling of not fitting into society’s expectations. Seeing someone engage with those ideas was genuinely meaningful to me because those themes are at the heart of everything I create.
As someone who writes the songs, develops the characters, creates the visuals, plans the concepts, and builds this universe piece by piece, it’s incredibly rewarding to see people connect with it in their own way.
